Well met! I’m Kalista, and I co-admin Istari with my husband, Arius. We've run a few other sites together, from an old west Supernatural roleplay to a Tron Legacy board, but Istari is our first original creation. It was originally adapted as a D&D campaign setting for a group of friends, but I always loved the idea of mixing magic and technology to get both a classic and urban fantasy feel. I still enjoy playing tabletop D&D, but these days I tend to spend more time on writing and online roleplay.

Along with avid writing comes avid reading, and I always have at least one book going. I tend to bounce back and forth between urban or high fantasy and science fiction, but I also enjoy crime novels and a handful of the classics. I also love gaming on the Playstation and Nintendo 3DS. I love a wide variety of games, but the original Mass Effect trilogy is nearest and dearest to my heart.

I tend to be online from midday to late evening, depending on my work schedule, and I usually lurk throughout the day. I love working with coding and graphics, so if you’re having trouble with something or have questions about the setting, feel free to message me or hop into the chat box. I’m always open to feedback, and I hope you enjoy playing in Istari as much as I’ve enjoyed working on it!

Arius
Heyla! I'm Arius, one of the admins here on Istari, and Kalista's lucky husband. I love writing (obviously), especially horror, fantasy, and sci fi, though I've been known to dabble in poetry and even fanfiction in the past. Though I don't seem to find the time for them as much as I used to, I enjoy playing games, both video and tabletop, and if I'm not around on the site it's probably because I'm playing my PS4 or 3DS.

I'm a great devourer of all sorts of literature, from high fantasy epics to dry historical tales, from fiction to non-fiction, and even comic books, which I have a huge passion for. I co-own a small comic shop in my hometown, which is something of a dream come true for me, and I've been collecting and reading comics and graphic novels since I was about five years old.

I'm usually around in the evenings to answer questions, play in the cbox, or even just shoot the breeze, so feel free to hit me up if you ever need anything!

Kay
Hey there! I’m Kay, Istari's moderator, and it’s nice to meet you! I’ve been roleplaying and writing for more than ten years and have been playing on Istari for about the whole time that it’s been open. I’ve known Kali and Arius for almost ten years now and actually got my online handler name from Arius. I’m a frequent writer and I do get distracted relatively easily as I’m always on social media sites. But currently I’ve been distracted with watching TV shows.

I’m an avid TV watcher ranging from Supernatural all the way to anime and nostalgia TV shows. Currently I’ve gotten myself stuck on Gargoyles. I’m also a classic anime fan, I’ve seen some of the newer animes, but the classics are my favorite. I’m also into a lot of superhero movies and horror movies, but movies in general are the things that I’m doing if I’m not writing.

I used to be a night owl, but given my 4am work schedule, I can be found lurking around here at high noon to about early evening, I’m a lurker so there will always definitely be someone there to answer your questions! Welcome to Istari!

Ryu Moonblood
I’ve been a thousand places and shook a million hands
I don’t know where I’m going, but I know just where I’ve been
I’ve flown a million miles and rode so many more
Every day a castaway, a vagabond battle born, a battle born
Physical Description
To others, Ryu’s tall standing at an even six feet. His hair a light brown with a mixture of gray from his long, long years of being alive and he keeps some stubble on his defined jawline. He has a very fit and well sculpted body that leaves some other people gawking at him. However, underneath his clothing, Ryu has a plethora of scars that – to others – deform him. These are scars that he has received over the years of pack territorial wars and battles with vampires from his wolf days, from poachers, other wolves, and hunters. Despite his very old and unknown age, Ryu carries no physical aspect of aging other than the slight color change in his hair.

Unlike some shapeshifters though, Ryu’s eyes are not an amber color or show any sign of changing permanently to any other color. The only time that his eyes exhibit any kind of color change is on the rare occasions that Ryu gets angry. In that case, just like other shifters, his eyes will flash amber or to the color of his wolf form, yellow.

Ryu likes to travel in his wolf form no matter what world he is currently passing through at the time. Although when there is a scent of a group of humans nearby, in order to avoid conflict, Ryu generally shifts back into his human form and dresses accordingly to avoid any awkward situations. However because he hates wearing shoes, people of Earth often think of him as some strange hobo who is just sort of out and roaming about. Ryu also travels through cities and towns in his human form to avoid conflict. His clothing of choice – for both worlds – is something that has that perfect fit. Sometimes it compliments him, his looks, and his body, and other times it doesn’t; but Ryu is the type to have never cared about what was going on with appearances.

His scent however, is important for himself, wolves, and any other wolf shifter in the world. He doesn’t smell like dog, strangely. Since he had been hand-picked by the Lunar Goddess, her essence has left an imprint on him. This means that those with powerful noses will notice that he doesn’t smell like a dog, wolf, or any other animal that walks on four legs; Ryu in fact smells like Lunar flowers because of the left over essence of the Goddess.

Personality
Ryu is a gentle old soul that chooses to keep his hands clean of as much mess as possible. He doesn’t like violence or senseless killing as he believes that it is wrong for anyone – supernatural creatures and humans alike – to be taking the life of another. That job is better left up to the higher deities. However, when the time comes for it, Ryu will engage in battle or a fight but he never kills. Fighting he knows is unavoidable for many creatures of the living world, but when it comes down to taking someone’s life Ryu refuses. He would much rather bring someone down, show them that he is stronger, that he could take their life if he wanted to, and leave it at that. It’s because of this belief that Ryu often times finds himself second guessing that he was a good choice to be Guardian of the Wolves. He knows that he will not be able to kill Lord Genkei when the time calls for it, so he feels that he will be failure.

He’s also wise and logical. When given a problem Ryu takes a moment to take a step back (if he has the opportunity to) to look at the situation from all angles before coming to a final decision or action. This comes from his years of experience from making the wrong decisions. This also makes Ryu a great leader as he has an uncanny ability to be a lot more logical than others. He’s also wise in the sense that he is able to use his own life experiences (before and after death) to relate to people, animals, and situations going on around him.

Like all wolves, Ryu is loyal to those that he considers to be his pack. Despite his leadership qualities, he also has the ability to allow others to follow through with their own decisions as Ryu is a big believer on learning from your own mistakes. Because of this, Ryu has learned to be patient with himself and with others. Also because of his patience towards others, Ryu is generally what people would call the shy and quiet type, except that is not it at all. Ryu’s quiet because he enjoys watching life moving and continuing on around him, even though he feels as though he is a rock stuck on the side of the river of life.

Ryu is very protective. Being that he used to be an alpha of his own pack full of shifter and wolf members, being protective comes with that sort of territory. He is not only protective of those that he cares about and is loyal too, Ryu finds himself being protective towards those that cannot defend themselves. He is also very protective and defensive when it comes to any mention or intention of disrespect towards the Lunar Goddess or her flowers. Ryu, having met the Goddess, has a strong connection to her and it’s because of this that he protects and defends the Goddess and her flowers with as much strength that he can.

He is also very humble, respectful, and laid back. But all of this, is under the exterior of Ryu. Because he’s so old, he has a bit of a tendency to be a little bit sarcastic because at this point in his life, he has seen most things at least once or twice. He also appears to be a grumpy old man to others, especially to those that come to him for advice or simply just talking to him. He doesn’t generally mean to come off that way, but because of his patient and sometimes sarcastic nature, it just happens that way.

History
An old legend told of a maiden who gave light, creation, and protection of the moon and those who worshipped it. Those who worshipped the moon, human or animal, had been her children. And some of her children had been in danger. She descended down onto the grounds of Earth and Istari from her own kingdom, Paradise, to help the wolves. They were being hunted for their furs and much of their blood had been spilled. She came and granted some wolves the ability to shift into humans. For those that did not have the ability to shift, she granted them the magical power of glamour to appear human to the eyes of a human. To animals and their shifting counter parts, they were wolves. With this ability, the maiden granted those magical wolves the ability to converse telepathically with humans (although to them it looked as if they were talking) and other wolves and animals. The difference between wolves and shifters was that shifters had physical human forms, glamouring wolves did not. These shifters and glamouring wolves became known as the Crescent Wolves and Crescent Shifters.

However these powers had limits. The maiden knew that if she were to ever leave the worlds, all magical and telepathic abilities would be lost. So she felt behind her essence in the form of lunar and moon flowers, flowers that only bloomed and opened up in the moonlight. This was a Crescent Wolf’s life line to their deity, the Mother as they have come to know her. She had also promised them that if they stayed peaceful with their fellow wolves and humans (believers or not), she would grant them permission past the Gates of Paradise and into a land that only Crescent Wolves and human believers would be allowed into. To live among her; a heaven for her children only, no one else allowed. Paradise was not only important to the Crescent Wolves, but it was important to the Mother as well. As long as the gates remained open, the wolves stayed magical, and she stayed strong enough to protect her children.

Sadly, there were those few wolves that went against the Goddess’s wishes. And those few that had lost their wolf form. This was not just limited to the magical wolves; it stretched to shifters as well. When any wolf killed a human or another wolf (if it was not justified), the maiden took away not only their abilities, but their wolf essence. When this happened, the wolf essence took form of a gemstone. That gemstone came to be known as the Wolf’s Eye. If used properly and by the owner of the Wolf’s Eye, it can restore the physical wolf form, with complications. They become what is known as a Hexenwolf, and this meant that they are only capable of becoming a wolf if they are wearing the Wolf’s Eye as a talisman. Because of this, those that become Hexenwolves can become a danger. It has dire consequences for the Hexenwolf, wolves, shifters, and Paradise alike. If used wrong, Hexenwolves are violent and much stronger than the average wolf or shifter and in order to sustain themselves, they must kill wolves and drink their blood.

All of this information and guidelines of how a wolf, shifter, and human believer should live were inscribed in a book that was known to the maiden’s worshippers as Children of the Moon. It had details of everything, and her human followers believed that all humans had been decedents of the wolves and shifters that lost their physical wolf form. Therefore, made them innocent of their ancestors’ blight and granted them the ability to enter Paradise if they held their family’s Wolf’s Eye. However the book and the Wolf’s Eyes had been hidden in a location that only the Lunar Goddess knew, to keep everyone safe.

It is unknown what date or year Ryu was born, but he was certainly born in the age where the Lunar Goddess had the most followers; humans, wolves, and shifters alike. He was also born into a wolf pack where wolves and shifters alike lived together known as Pack Moonblood. His life was peaceful as his pack had an unspoken truce among the human tribes closest to them; the pack did not attack or bother them and the tribes did the same. So Ryu grew up in a place where they did not worry about being murdered or killed for their furs and food was plentiful. Of course, because they had good ties with the humans in the area, other packs that were just like Ryu’s, or just wolves or even just shifters tried to encroach on their territory which resulted in blood baths and territorial wars. However, Ryu’s pack always came out on top.

When most of the pack left to fight these wars, the cubs were left in the hands of powerful shifters and female wolves that helped the cubs to harness their abilities, whether they were born as a shifter or born as a wolf. In Ryu’s pack, these shifters and wolves were known as Watchers. The shifter cubs learned to shift from the shifter Watchers and the wolf cubs learned their glamour abilities from the wolf Watchers. They also tended to the needs of each individual cub to help with their ever growing abilities to make sure that they did not hurt themselves and others.

So much of Ryu’s younger years had been spent with the Watchers. This had been encouraged in packs so that the cub could learn how to glamour from experienced wolves. Ryu however had been a bit of a late bloomer when it came to his glamour. This was because Ryu was a fighter in his youngster years. He spent most of his time with the Warrior Wolves (wolves and shifters who usually see the front lines of battle). Never turning away an eager pup, the Warrior Wolves taught Ryu how to fight. This helped him grow and become strong, and later when his father – the alpha male – had died, Ryu fought strong and hard to claim the title as alpha. Even though Ryu held the title of alpha, not much of the pack had changed, except for the fact that neighboring packs decided to stop trying to take their territory. Ryu – even though against killing – was vicious in his fighting habits as he would rather keep those that he defeated alive so that they could live in the shame of their defeat. To many wolves and their pack members, this was worse than death.

There had been one pack that had attacked anyway, disregarding Ryu’s reputation. The attacking pack, Hillswolfe, brought every one of their wolves, including their Watchers (which resulted in the cubs having to be near the battlefield). Ryu, in the beginning, refused the fight because of how close the cubs were going to be during the bloodshed. The alpha of Hillswolfe pushed the matter, and it resulted in him killing Ryu’s youngest brother, Hibine. Outraged, Ryu attacked the alpha, and while the other wolf gave it his all (and left Ryu with some serious injuries and later on vicious scars), he was one of the only wolves that Ryu had ever killed. Suddenly feeling guilty that Hillswolfe was left without an alpha, he gave them all a choice. They could either join his pack with their cubs, or choose to be separate and find another alpha. Although he did warn them, that if they were to join and thought of killing him, he would make sure that they received the same death as their deceased alpha.

Surprisingly, many of the wolves from Hillswolfe became Moonbloods. While this caused from issues among the original Moonblood members, they eventually accepted the other wolves as part of their family (the cubs were a different story considering that they had been innocent from the start). An important former Hillswolfe member, Akemi the daughter of the alpha, joined Moonblood along with some of her much younger siblings. Shockingly, she captured Ryu’s heart and he captured her heart. Akemi soon became his alpha female and they were quick to have a litter (although in Ryu’s pack, he allowed his pack members to mate with each other if they were truly in love, so he and Akemi were not the only mating pair). Ryu and Akemi lived happily together and had several litters over the years.

Later on in Ryu’s reign over the large pack, a truce with one of the human tribes had been broken by his eldest son Daitaro who had killed a human child. Knowing that he now had trouble on his hands, Ryu was forced to exile Daitaro and go to war with the neighboring human tribe. Except Pack Moonblood quickly fell as the tribe that they went to war with banded together with the other human tribes and sought out the help of some specialists who are now called hunters in modern day. So they were severely outnumbered and much weaker. The pack was killed ruthlessly, and Ryu had been killed and skinned, the tribe who had their child murdered took his fur and hung it outside their village as a warning to other wolves and shifters.

After his death, Ryu found himself standing on the greenest of grass that he could have ever imagined. In front of him, a pair of open, pearly, and golden gates decorated with vines and lunar flowers. Greeting him at the gates was a woman who was slender but of average height for a human. She had long black hair that flowed past her knees and rested on the clean grass. She was decorated in the finest of gold jewelry and her eyes had been a piercing light blue color, like a glowing moon. Her robes were white and flowing with the gentle breeze that seemed to come from behind her. She greeted him by name: “Welcome to Paradise Ryu, my son.”

Ryu’s living life seemed like a dream compared to the life that he lived in Paradise. After his death he had been reunited with all of the members of Pack Moonblood, but there was no real alpha as all the wolves, shifters, and humans had a newfound feeling of peace and they lived with each other as one large pack with one alpha, the Mother. Food and water was limitless, and playtime never ended. Ryu had been reunited with his mate and together, the two of them took care of the small amount of cubs that have found their way to Paradise.

The Mother took a particular interest in Ryu and often requested for his company. The two of them spent a lot of time together, most of it consisting of sitting by the lake with his head in her lap with her hand stroking his fur as she told him stories of the ancient times. He asked her frequently why she favored him, but she always told him that she did not have favorites. She informed him that the wolves and shifters were more than welcome to come to her whenever they wanted, but she respected their freewill in Paradise and was not bothered when they wanted to be with their loved ones. But she was always invited to tag along with the other wolves and shifters; invitations that she honored when she wasn’t with Ryu. Over the centuries they became rather close friends.

Centuries later, something suddenly changed in Paradise. The sky became darker and the breeze seemed to be harsher than usual. The wolves and shifters became easily irritated and fought among each other. Many of them dazed and confused, asking where they are and how they got there. Even Ryu’s mate, Akemi who is usually a kind-hearted wolf, became irritable and fought with the other pack members. Ryu felt that he, for some reason was the only one that had any sense left and he rushed to find the Mother.

When he finally found her, she had been standing at the gates where the harsh winds had been coming from, both of her hands on the gates struggling to close them. Ryu protested and begged that she not do it, but she didn’t seem to hear him. The gates closed, and there seemed to be a spark of a brilliant white light that threw the Mother and Ryu backwards. And just like that, everything in Paradise became normal; except there was something very wrong with the Lunar Goddess. After coming to, Ryu went to her side to find that she looked thinner, her face paler, her hair duller, and her eyes dim. She looked at Ryu with a distant look and began to explain:

“A terrible evil is threatening Paradise, my son. A darkness that we will never be able to recover from. For now, we are safe. But the Gates of Paradise are closed, meaning that your brothers and sisters on the outside cannot get in; so they will forever wander out there in Limbo, waiting for their time to enter. I am also weaker. I cannot provide my children the power that they need. With the last of my power, Ryu, I am sending you to Istari to protect my children, your brothers and sisters. While closing the gates, I was able to hear his name, Lord Genkei. Find him, my son, and stop him. Save our home.”

Before Ryu could protest, her hand touched upon his muzzle and he suddenly felt a powerful yank from within his chest. A pull that yanked him downwards through the ground and he was suddenly engulfed with the feeling of falling. A feeling that lasted what seemed like an eternity before he slammed hard into the ground. He felt strange, and his body ached. He groaned, realizing that he had a voice and his eyes shot open, finding instead of paws, he had hands and feet. Even though in his living years he could glamour into a human, he still found it surprising and startling to be in this form. He was drowsy, groggy, and as his senses finally came together, Ryu found himself in the middle of a field. Trees had been blown down from what he could only assume was from the power of his Goddess. He also found that he was sitting not only naked, but surrounded by lunar flowers. Everything around him seemed duller, less full of life; even the moon (to him) seemed dull.

From the lunar flowers around him, the Goddess informed him that she had sent him back in his human form rather than his wolf form as it was much easier for her and didn’t use as much power as she would have if she sent him back as a wolf. The connection to her was weaker in human forms compared to wolves. She also told him that he could become a wolf, but he needed to relearn how to shift into one as he was no longer a wolf that could glamour but Crescent Shifter instead. He was also informed that he could contact her through the lunar flowers, but the connection would be weak and sometimes may not work considering that the gates had been closed, she was significantly weaker, and slowly depleting. The Mother re-informed him of Lord Genaki’s darkness that threatens Paradise and before she could say anymore, the connection was suddenly lost and Ryu felt as if there was something missing within him.

The living world changed significantly for the Crescent Wolves and Shifters. They became what many now perceived them to be now; Crescent Wolves could no longer glamour or speak or show any sign of individual thought while Crescent Shifters became violent among themselves and their human counterparts. Everything was falling apart and Ryu didn’t know how to fix it.

After about a day of stumbling around in the world alone, Ryu had been found by a small group of Crescent Shifters who seemed to have found an inner peace upon Ryu’s lunar flower scent touching their senses. They agreed to help Ryu and teach him how to shift and become familiar with his shifter body. While with them, Ryu told them stories (well, they believed that they were just campfire stories) of his days as a wolf and his days in Paradise. After spending almost a few decades with them, learning about his new body, weaknesses, and this strange new world, Ryu finally departed from the pack.

While he was with them though, he had learned, for them, the inner connection to Paradise that every Crescent Wolf, Crescent Shifter, and human believer had been lost for almost centuries. Leaving Ryu only to believe that while just a few seconds passed in Paradise, decades passed here in Istari. Meaning that every Crescent Wolf was just an everyday animal and Crescent Shifters were now looked at as something evil and human believers no longer existed.

He too was beginning to feel the effects of a closed off Paradise. While he knew that he would always have a connection to the Lunar Goddess, every day that he spent in the living world, he could feel a sliver of his connection being taken away by doubt, and he struggled against it. He was also beginning to struggle against the unknown, the unknown of the Darkness that was creeping into Paradise and disturbing the Crescent Wolves and Shifters and who exactly the man named Lord Genkei truly was. His days in the living world were filled with confusion as he tries every day to do what was asked of him. Though he did manage to find some answers after a few years. After trying several times to contact the Mother in the matter that she promised him, she finally answered and told him that Lord Genkei was looking for her precious book and a Wolf’s Eye, something that she had managed to take away from him before he could truly enter Paradise (and before she could closed the gates). How she did that, Ryu didn’t know and he was much too afraid to ask. She informed him that if Lord Genkei could get his hands on those items once, he can do it again, so she asked Ryu to look for them. Although she decided that she wasn’t going to tell him their location in order to keep them safe; after all what he didn’t know could not hurt him. She was also secretly afraid that Ryu (even though he was more than loyal to her) would try to use them to open the Gates to Paradise and unknowingly allow darkness into his home. Obviously she did not express this to him as she knew that it would destroy him emotionally.

He did however find his way to Earth once, completely by accident (a curious wolf happened to have gotten to close to a veil), however his experience was not liked. Being in the other realm almost broke his connection to his Goddess as she was not powerful enough to stretch that far as magic was also rare on Earth. Frantically, he searched for a way back and after almost a week in Earth, he was able to find his way back to Istari. Since then, he hasn’t returned.

Years and years have passed since the day that he had been brought back to Istari. Ryu – sadly – is still getting used to his human form so he often travels the lands as a wolf. Currently, he can be found anywhere in Istari as he strives to save his home and save his Mother.

His days however no longer blurred as much when he met Frankie Taylor and Zephyr Yoren. He met Frankie first after stumbling upon her in the woods in this makeshift shelter. She was badly bruised and beaten and Ryu took it upon himself to see that the young girl got to safety. Not only that, but he stayed with her to nurse her and her wounds back to health. Over the course of that time, Frankie and Ryu shared their stories and bonded quickly over the conversations. Soon, Ryu came to realize that the reason why he was able to connect and bond with the young hunter so quickly was because she reminded him of his mate, Akemi. Frankie also made him realize how much he missed his mate, his children, and his pack. It pushed him to continue to strive for the reason why he was put here so that he could one day, be reunited with his family.

After Frankie was healed enough to continue traveling, the two of them decided to stay in touch writing letters to each other and meeting up as often as they can. And the two of them stuck to this as much as they could and over time, their relationship grew stronger and Ryu came to view Frankie as a daughter and he vowed to do anything that he could to protect her.

Ryu met Zephyr Yoren in a different fashion. Ryu had taken shelter in the man’s barn for a few nights when a terrible storm rolled through the area. After the storm passed, Zephyr had found Ryu sleeping on a pile of hay in his wolf form and nearly killed him. Ryu quickly explained his presence in the barn and told Zephyr that he was just spending the night, and requested that he help Zephyr on his land to show gratitude for letting him stay there and also not shooting him. Zephyr agreed after he was able to get passed the fact that there was a wolf talking to him.

It wasn’t until after all the work was done did Zephyr actually start opening up. Upon hearing the story about what had happened to his family and his people, Ryu felt the sudden need to help Zephyr. He told the other gentlemen about his Goddess and promised that she would be able to help him. Zephyr was obviously a little skeptical and because of that, Ryu took him to a meadow filled with lunar flowers on the night of the full moon. Upon arriving, the two of them were met but the Lunar Goddess who promised Zephyr his family as long as he helped Ryu find the darkness and end its threat. Zephyr agreed quickly, and the two of them were out searching.

It was a struggle in the beginning; they didn’t know where to look. But soon the rumors of wolf demons attacking villages arrived at Ryu’s ears and they set out to see what was happening. Unknowingly the two of them walked right into a trap. They were ambushed by wolf demons, and they fought hard to escape. At some point, the two of them had been separated and Ryu found himself utterly alone as he fought for his life. Except the demons stopped attacking him, and circled him instead. Before he could question it, the wolf demons parted to reveal the much bigger threat. Ryu recognized the creature instantly as a Hexenwolf, but who exactly that Hexenwolf really was brought more of a shock to him than anything.

It was his son, Daitaro. Before Ryu could ask any other questions, Daitaro advanced on him and Ryu found himself fighting for his life. Ryu didn’t have the heart to kill his son so at some point in the middle of the battle, Ryu managed to escape and find Zephyr barely clinging to life. Both of them barely escaped with their lives that night, and while Ryu might have been physically injured, his soul had been shattered. He made the connections quickly and realized that the “darkness” that threatened to destroy Paradise was his very own son and he struggled at just trying to comprehend any of it. He had such a hard time that he completely shut down in the beginning. Over time, he realized that he needed to accept the fact that his son had become a Hexenwolf and he was more dangerous than it was originally believed that he was.

While he was working to try and find the strength to kill his son, Ryu found himself entering a relationship with Zephyr. It happened slowly for him, but eventually during their travels together one thing led to another and now Ryu found himself moving to Etria with his partner as Zephyr entered the next part of his life.

Ryu found himself settling down and even living in a home rather than a cave. But despite the fact that he now had a permanent residence in the newly built part of Etria, he still had a job to do and he couldn’t ask Zephyr to help him any longer. He felt a little bit relieved when Zephyr went to him and told him that he did not believe that it was fair to bring back a family when he had started a new life for himself. So he called the deal off with the Goddess but insisted that he continued to help Ryu try to save Paradise. However Ryu insisted that he travelled alone to track down his son now that Zephyr had bigger issues to worry about. They agreed then that Ryu would travel, but the moment that it seemed like he was closing in on Daitaro, he would turn back to regroup with Zephyr so that he had backup in the final battle. Although there have been several times where Ryu had come close to Daitaro on his own, the reason for that is because he felt that it was solely his duty to stop him since it was his son causing so much grief on the Crescent Wolves and Paradise.

Powers and Limitations

»Immortality: An ability that doesn't exist with most Crescent wolves, but it was granted to Ryu by the Goddess of the Moon. He can never age, nor die of natural causes, he's however not invincible.

»Immune to Diseases: Due to Ryu's unique heritage he cannot contract human like diseases or illnesses.

» Telepathy: This power is limited; when in his wolf form Ryu can speak telepathically to both animals, humans, and supernatural creatures and when he is human he can only speak telepathically to animals.

» Shapeshifting: Ryu has the ability to turn into a black wolf at will. In both this form and his human form, Ryu has enhanced stamina, senses, endurance, strength and speed.

» Healing: In both forms, Ryu has advanced healing. Depending on the energy that he has and what the wound had been inflicted by; it takes only a short amount of time for it to be healed. Wounds that are inflicted by silver, Wolfsbane, to the Goddess, or even to a lunar flower, actually take much longer for them to heal.

Hey Kay! First off, let me say that I found Ryu's history and character very interesting, and the app overall was a very good read. There are still a handful of edits and clarifications I'd like to see though, so let's get started.

In the Strengths list, you have a handful of powers that can be taken out and replaced with something like "his wolf powers" instead.

You mention in the Physical Description that he has a lot of scars, and I know that some of them were probably made by silver and wolfsbane (as per his Powers/Weaknesses) but you also mention in the History that a rival wolf scarred him. Does his rapid healing not affect wounds inflicted by other wolves, shifters, etc? If so, be sure to mention it somewhere.

Also in the Description you mention that shifters all have eyes that change color. Keep in mind that everyone else's shifters might not follow this rule, so it might be better to replace it with something like "some other shifters" etc.

The biggest issue for us in in the History, and it really isn't something that needs to be edited per se, I just want clarification, and to clarify it to you too. Remember that we are open to all different types and interpretations of creatures here on Istari, so your story about the creation of werewolves and shifters may not apply to every werewolf and shifter on the site, if they don't want to follow the mythology you've created. It might be best to mention somewhere in the History that the Lunar Goddess perhaps created a certain type, or line of werewolves and shifters, but that those weren't by any means the only werewolves and shifters out there in the worlds.

There are a handful of places throughout the app (mostly in the History I think) where you use the word "too" incorrectly. Make sure you go through, find them, and think about if that usage is correct, or if it should be "to" instead. And on the subject of grammar/typos, there is a place in the History where you say "who are not called hunters in the modern day" when I think you meant "who are NOW called hunters..." so go ahead and change that.

There is a point in the History where you say "although deciding that she wasn’t going to tell them their location in order to keep Lord Genkei one step behind Ryu (how that worked, he wasn’t sure)." Instead of just leaving it like that, I'd like to see you provide a reason why the Lunar Goddess wouldn't tell Ryu the location of the book and the eye. I thought maybe that it was because what he didn't know couldn't be plucked from his mind by the enemy, or, likewise, couldn't be tortured out of him. Feel free to use that if you want, or come up with something of your own.

Lastly, again in the History, you say "a curious happened to have gotten too close to a veil" and I"m really not sure what you meant to say here, so make sure to clear it up.

As always, leave a reply when you're done and I'll have another look!

Hey Arius! I'm glad that you liked him. :3

I went in and made the necessary changes. I also looked over his entire app and fixed up/changed some wording and grammar for you as much as I could. And I changed a lot of "too" back to just "to." That was more of a keyboard issue rather than grammar because my O key is beginning to stick some and adds in unnecessary O's. -grump-

I changed two of his strengths to:
QUOTE
<option>Crescent Wolf abilities</option>

Also changed that really some bit in the description. So it now says: "Unlike some shifters" rather than just shifters.

I said this to you earlier, but the scar that he had sustained from his rival left him a scar because during that time, he was a Crescent Wolf and those are literally just wolves that have some magical power. So that means that they didn't have any special healing abilities.

History time. In the first paragraph, towards the end I gave a name to the species of wolf and shifter that the Lunar Goddess created, Crescent Wolf and Crescent Shifter. I also went ahead and went into the application and applied those words to areas that I felt needed them.

That sentence that you were talking about, it was supposed to say: "a curious wolf happened to get too close to a veil" so I fixed it accordingly. And fixed that "not" to "now"

And finally, for a somewhat bigger change, I added this towards the end of his application about the Goddess's reasoning to not tell Ryu the locations:
QUOTE
Although she decided that she wasn’t going to tell him their location in order to keep them safe; after all what he didn’t know could not hurt him. She was also secretly afraid that Ryu (even though he was more than loyal to her) would try to use them to open the Gates to Paradise and unknowingly allow darkness into his home. Obviously she did not express this to him as she knew that it would destroy him emotionally

Those are literally the last sentences in those paragraphs.

And there's still the question I asked you about his species, but if I need to change it from "Uniques" to "Shapeshifters" I will, just poke me and let me know. Me thinks that this covers everything, hope that this is better!

Hey guys!

I updated Ryu's location and his sexuality for you.

Also, I changed a bit of the last paragraph to the original app so that it had a better flow into the edits that I made. I hope that's okay! I also got Zombie and Court to sign off on these!
QUOTE
Years and years have passed since the day that he had been brought back to Istari. Ryu – sadly – is still getting used to his human form so he often travels the lands as a wolf.
<BR><BR>
<BR><BR>
After Frankie was healed enough to continue traveling, the two of them decided to stay in touch writing letters to each other and meeting up as often as they can. And the two of them stuck to this as much as they could and over time, their relationship grew stronger and Ryu came to view Frankie as a daughter and he vowed to do anything that he could to protect her.
<BR><BR>
Ryu met Zephyr Yoren in a different fashion. Ryu had taken shelter in the man’s barn for a few nights when a terrible storm rolled through the area. After the storm passed, Zephyr had found Ryu sleeping on a pile of hay in his wolf form and nearly killed him. Ryu quickly explained his presence in the barn and told Zephyr that he was just spending the night, and requested that he help Zephyr on his land to show gratitude for letting him stay there and also not shooting him. Zephyr agreed after he was able to get passed the fact that there was a wolf talking to him.
<BR><BR>
<BR><BR>
<BR><BR>
<BR><BR>
While he was working to try and find the strength to kill his son, Ryu found himself entering a relationship with Zephyr. It happened slowly for him, but eventually during their travels together one thing led to another and now Ryu found himself moving to Etria with his partner as Zephyr entered the next part of his life.
<BR><BR>
Ryu found himself settling down and even living in a home rather than a cave. But despite the fact that he now had a permanent residence in the newly built part of Etria, he still had a job to do and he couldn’t ask Zephyr to help him any longer. He felt a little bit relieved when Zephyr went to him and told him that he did not believe that it was fair to bring back a family when he had started a new life for himself. So he called the deal off with the Goddess but insisted that he continued to help Ryu try to save Paradise. However Ryu was insisted that he travelled alone to track down his son now that Zephyr had bigger issues to worry about.
